FAQ

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal, capable of exacting removal on all types of hair and skin.

How long does electrolysis take?

Electrolysis is a long term commitment, taking about 6-18 months or longer depending on the area being worked, the amount of hair needing to be treated, and commitment to the treatment plan.

What does electrolysis feel like?

Most describe Electrolysis as a slight pinch or heat sensation. Sensitivity to Electrolysis varies from person to person, area to area, and treatment to treatment, but I will always try my best to work within your limits as determined by you.

What can I do to prepare for my appointment?

The hair will need to be long enough for me to grip with tweezers, which typically amounts to 3 or 4 days of growth depending on the area. Please do not wear makeup, sunscreen, or ointment to your appointment as it can interfere with the natural post healing process. Wear clothes that do not interfere with the area being worked on.

You may apply a topical anesthetic at least 30 minutes before your appointment if you are concerned about pain. Avoid caffeine for at least 6 hours prior to your appointment and alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment as these can greatly increase sensitivity.

What should I do for aftercare?

Avoid the sun, makeup, hot water, or touching the area for at least 24 hours post appointment. Avoid exfoliating for at least 48 hours post appointment. Antibacterial makeup is fine. Topical antibacterial or healing creams can be used to facilitate healing and are necessary in the chance of an infection.
